4. Record-Keeping (Logging)
All AI decisions must be logged in a way that enables post-hoc analysis. If a candidate challenges their rejection, you need records showing what happened.

5. Transparency
Candidates must be informed that AI is used in the screening process. This isn't optional. It's a legal requirement.

6. Human Oversight
A qualified human must be able to review and override AI recommendations. Fully automated rejection without human review is not compliant.

7. Accuracy, Robustness, and Cybersecurity
The system must perform accurately and be protected against manipulation. AI screening that produces random or easily manipulated results doesn't meet the standard.

Timeline: When Do Requirements Apply?
The EU AI Act uses a phased rollout:
- February 2025: Prohibited AI practices banned

Common Misconceptions
"We only use AI for suggestions, so we're not affected."
Wrong. If AI influences who gets shortlisted, it's high-risk. The regulation covers systems that "assist" decisions, not just those that make them.

Partially true. The vendor is responsible for the AI system itself. You're responsible for how you deploy and use it. Both sides carry obligations.
"We can wait until enforcement starts."

"GDPR already covers this."
GDPR covers data protection. The EU AI Act covers AI system requirements. They complement each other. GDPR compliance doesn't equal AI Act compliance.
